Being Discovered
After the war, the family moved to England. Stripped of most of their financial resources, Hepburn became a part-time model and secured small acting parts in order to support her family. While filming a small roll for the movie Monte Carlo Baby (1952), Hepburn caught the eye of Colette, a French novelist who decided to cast her as Gigi in the Broadway play. It was during this time that Audrey dropped the surname Ruston and went by the name Audrey Hepburn.
Gigi (1951)
The play follows Gigi, a Parisian girl who is being groomed to become a courtesan. She befriends a rich, high-society womanizer, Gaston. As the play progresses, Gaston realizes he has fallen in love with Gigi and they end up together.
